Who is this new kid on the block?
31 Jul 2007
When I came to the land of Monk – on the verge of shedding the swaddling clothes of university, which have since been traded in for a business suit and paisley tie – there were a number of high-profile projects that landed on my (imaginary) desk. It’s not easy being a Rockstar, but in the end it’s all about delivering what the fans want.
My name is Justin Stayton, I am 21 years old, and no, I don’t usually talk this way. I just have a thing for grandiose statements and sarcasm. It’s nice to meet you.
I really have been working here, and my proof can be found throughout the system.
Locking is a nifty new feature that prevents two members from editing (or deleting, or publishing) the same record (whether it be sermon, or event, or whatever) at the same time. The details can still be viewed, but a message informs you that the record is locked by your church secretary, Glenda, and disables your ability to make changes. While slightly annoying when you’re just trying to fix a misspelled word, you will thank me for saving you from accidentally overwriting all of Glenda’s changes.
Notices have also been unveiled to give you a better warning when the system is going down for maintenance, or we just feel like saying Hello. So keep your eyes on your Dashboard! (And we even have the option of sending you an e-mail notice too.)
For the grand finale, let me just say this: Discussions. Like the premise of Cloverfield, however, it’s top secret.
Since I began here at Monk five months ago, a lot of exciting projects have been undertaken, but I can’t wait to see what’s in-store for the next five. You'll want to stay tuned.
Justin Stayton, better known as Jark, is a Software Developer who enjoys waking up, putting on his suit and tie, and walking three steps to his office on the other side of his bedroom.
